Ginger is a potent liver supporter and reduces nausea, while the coconut water rehydrates rapidly - it has the same PH as blood - helping to rebalance the sodium:potassium balance in the body. Tomatoes and lime juice supply a whack of beta-carotene and vitamin C, each of which is essential for mopping up the free radicals caused by overdrinking.
1tsp grated root ginger
2 medium tomatoes, roughly chopped
330ml (11fl oz/1 1/2 cups) coconut water
1 dsp flat-leaf parsley
juice of 1 lime
Blend all the ingredients together in a high-speed blender and pour over ice - drink immediately
2. HEAD ACHE
- Taking chemical medication such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, despite removing the pain, only worsens the effect on your liver. Instead, try tiger balm on your temples. Although it won't remove your hangover, it is one of the best natural topical cures of headaches around. Its been around for centuries, and is traditionally used in Asia. Available to purchase in any Health Food Store too.
3. SHOTS -
Yep, not the kind of shot that you are thinking of. Wheatgrass, a fantastic natural detoxifier that you can have a shot of before you go to bed, and again upon waking. Not only will this help clear your insides of the toxins indulged in the night before, but it will maintain your PH balance, heal your intestines and deliver powerful antioxidants that will help cure your hangover.
I have read, that taking a bath full of wasabi or mustard are also both great ways of getting rid of a hangover, but I have to be honest I'm not so sure that I've ever had one bad enough to fill a tub of mustard! There are so many other ways to help with your hangover, get some fresh air or put chia into any recipe that you eat during the day as its so high in fibre and in essential fats to help remove the toxic waste from overindulgence. Alternatively...don't drink too much?!?
