Warm Beetroot Vin Chaud

Serves: 3 | Prep time: 5 minutes | Cooking time: 10 minutes | Cooking Skills: Simple

This is the most wonderful warming and velvety take on the traditional Vin Chaud but its non alcoholic! Give it a go and you can have either hot or cold. Star anise is also anti-viral so great for keeping the winter cold at bay or a perfect alternative for a hot toddy if you are feeling under the weather.

Ingredients

440g beetroot
200g black currants
1 apples
2 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
pinch of nutmeg
2 slices of fresh ginger
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
8 cloves
juice of half an orange

    Instructions

    1. Juice the beetroot, black currants and apples in a juicer. Transfer the juice to a pan and add the spice, vanilla extract and orange juice.
    2. Bring to the boil and then gently simmer the liquid over a medium heat for 5-8 minutes until the spices release their flavour and the aromas really start to release.
    3. Transfer to a mug or glass and enjoy those classic Christmas flavours without any of the alcohol!
