Eggnog (Vegan)


For all of our American followers, you might be interested to know that not only Eggnog is a drink recipe that can be traced back to the 14th century when medieval Englishmen enjoyed a hot cocktail known as Posset, but also that Eggnog was apparently George Washington’s favourite drink. This recipe, as usual, is the healthy version of eggnog, which you can prepare for your loved ones during your holiday parties. This recipe is winter warming goodness in a glass. I can’t tell you how satisfying this drink is – thick, warming and incredibly nourishing. Maca powder is a fantastic energy food while I strongly recommend investing in some kuzu as it is a fantastic, alkaline thickening agent perfect for sauces, coulis and drinks!



Cooks InPrep time: 0 minutes | Cooking time: 10 minutes


500ml almond milk
1 cinnamon stick
½tsp maca powder
½ a vanilla pod, seeds scraped out
3 grates of fresh nutmeg, or a pinch of ground nutmeg
2tsp almond powder
1/2tsp vanilla extract
3tsp kuzu


  • Gently heat the almond milk in a saucepan over a medium heat with the cinnamon, maca powder vanilla pod & scraped out seeds, almond powder and vanilla extract.
  • As it begins to come to the boil, remove the vanilla pod and cinnamon stick and gently whisk in 1tsp of the kuzu at a time until it dissolves and the mixture starts to thicken. After about a minute, remove from the heat and serve, adding a little more almond milk if it looks a too thick for you.
